HOW IT'S MADE
The artwork was created on a transparency, then transferred to a photopolymer plate via exposure to a UV light.
The plates are then set within a Takach printing press, through which the leather pieces are rolled, resulting in the embossed design. We finish the piece in our shop with two simple stitch lines.
ABOUT THE ARTISTS
A sixth generation Coloradan, Duke Beardsley has been drawing and painting the American west for as long as he can remember. Raised both in Denver and on a 1000 acre cattle ranch in eastern Colorado, Duke's "duel/dual" upbringing is the foundation for his unique blend of traditional western iconography and contemporary art sensibilities.
He has been assisted for eight years by Virginia Diaz Saiki, a talented graphic artist and printmaker in her own right. Virginia has a degree in printmaking and many years of professional printmaking experience. Today she assumes all managerial, technical and production responsibilities at Dark Horse Press, Beardsley's print studio, in addition to all the management responsibilities of the Duke Beardsley Studio.
