HOW IT'S MADE
Whenever possible, we use premium vegetable-tanned leather. Roughly 90% of today's leather products are chrome-tanned, which typically only takes several days and uses harsh chemicals to dye the hide. Vegetable tanning, a method that has been around since as early as 7000 BCE, uses oak, chestnut, or mimosa bark, and the tannins from these plants result in a longer-lasting product. The vegetable tanning process can take anywhere from six weeks to six months, depending on the plants used and the number of “pits” or barrels the leather soaks in.
All of our goods are made entirely by hand, and our designs are inspired by our working ranch lifestyle and the heritage style of traditional Western saddle-makers.
Our shop supports our working ranching business that owns and manages cattle and bison operations across the American West. We use traditional management methods alongside progressive techniques to take care of livestock and the land. Our mission is to promote the conservation of ranch lands, our American ranching legacy, and quality of life for people living and working on ranches through innovative and sustainable business ventures, long-term business partnerships, and strategic alliances inside and outside our industry.
